is pray for them.
I am convinced that the best thing you can do for someone is pray for them.
If you love someone pray for them.
If someone hurts you, pray for them.
If someone didn’t say hi to you, pray for them.
If someone is passing your mind, take a moment and pray for them.
If you can’t stop thinking about someone, pray for them.
If you like someone pray for them.
If you don’t like someone pray for them.
If someone talks behind your back, pray for them.
If you made a new friend today, pray for them.
If you and someone aren’t friends anymore, pray for them.
If you can’t stand to be in a room with someone pray for them.
If you would like to help someone, pray for them.
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:44
Essentially what we are doing when we pray for someone is we are giving God control of any given situation and giving up the need to always be in control. See, because no matter what the situation is, we always want to DO something. Whether we can’t stop thinking about someone or whether we can’t even be in the same room with another person. In the first case, you might want to come close to them and make your interest of them known to them. Or in the second case you may want to take things in your own hands and do something for that person to know your dislike for them.
In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. Ephesians 6:18
When we focus on people we lose focus of what matters; God. When we focus on God, He makes sure the right people enter our lives. If someone hurts us and we pray for them we not only bring this person to God’s control but ourselves as well. We find that by praying to God we no longer have the need to talk about this person with someone else. It’s like writing down your grocery list. It clears up space in your mind for other important things. It gives space for things that we should be striving for which is God and his righteousness.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.Philippians 4:6
Let’s give God control of the situation, let’s entrust God with our lives. Because who can have better insight in a person’s life than the one who created him/her and knows their heart. (Psalm 139) So whether you like someone or don’t like someone get out of God’s way, let Him be God and do what He does best. Remember that you are not God and that nothing you can do could possibly transform a person’s life. Only God’s power is transformative.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
